Unique to Guernsey. Come to the Hougue du Pommier and experience French Style open fire cooking, most popular in Brittany. It is still widely believed that the Feu du Bois originated in Italy and the idea and methods have been ''stolen''. This way of cooking clearly goes back 100's of years and has now been introduced to the Hougue du Pommier hotel of which the original farmhouse dates back to 1712.

The replica of a 'feu du Bois' has been the decision to convert the fireplace at the hotel came about after a visit to Dol De Bretagne in Northern Brittany. The proprietor of Hougue du Pommier visited a Restaurant called Le Table Ronde themed on the Knights of the Round Table after being offered the last remaining table in the vast restaurant, He then experienced the most fascinating meal cooked on the open fire. The idea was born. The Feu du Bois was created by Lance Vaudin who sauced French Granite for the masterpiece.
